The design of an eco-friendly tap, the subject of the thesis, was developed through a research process that included an analysis of all aspects of the subject: the types of tap on the market, devices and variable operating factors together with an analysis of the production chain. Particular attention was paid to the survey on user habits, in order to find ways and behaviour patterns that lead to water and energy waste. The synthesis of the work is a device that is both simple in concept and effective in producing water and energy savings. The object in question is a simple interlocking ring, inserted in the tap body, which acts on the control lever, by aligning the closure position with the "cold water" position. During rotation, the lever is gently guided by a sliding action due to a variable chamfer of the nut that gradually becomes wider and wider. Moving the flow lever to the "hot" position, the lever comes to rest on the bezel, minimizing the delivery, but without completely stopping; further pressure slides the lever to the "cold" position. The designer has planned for the ring to be produced in PTFE: a material with one of the lowest coefficients of friction among the industrial products currently on the market.
