Tsara is a collection of furnishings,
decorative items and fashion accessories as a result of a
research and promotion initiative for the community of
women artisans in Madagascar. The ultimate goal of the
project is the improvement of working and living
conditions in rural communities in the southeast of the
country. The collection was presented at an event held
in the Queen’s Palace in the presence of President of
the Republic of Madagascar Hery Rajaonarimampianina
and numerous local authorities. Nature and technology are
intertwined in products of great diversity: natural fibres
such as raffia and straw are interlaced with strips of
recycled plastics, combined with perforated metal sheets or
steel tubes and woven to create handbags, furniture and
accessories for both outdoor and indoor use. The purpose
of the project is the marketing of handicraft items to
support the economies of the three communities involved.
