Tra martello e incudine

FOR SAMPIETRO
“Tra martello e incudine” as told by Giulio Iacchetti: “[…] First of all it was a case of listening and comparing: visits to the workshop followed by team meetings in the offices to review the work so far, to analyze prototypes and articles that were stating to take shape in the workshop. The relationship with the workers, initially intended as a simple exchange of information, became instead a dialogue between groups of people who knew their business and were curious to find out about other disciplines and skills so as to create a genuine and fair exchange of knowledge. The end result is a series of well designed and produced objects […]. However it would be unfair and derogatory to describe the result of this collective effort as just a catalogue of contemporary designed wrought iron pieces. In actual fact, this workshop aims to create prototypes and experiential paradigms that define a renewed encounter between artisans and the world of design. For the world of artisans, it is a clear demonstration that with the contribution of external designers, it is possible to outline a design path capable of overcoming the continuous repetition of standard or traditional folklore shapes and patterns. For the designers, it represents an opportunity to consolidate the rapport between thought and action, together with the privilege of being present at the creation of a genuine artefact, and to be made aware of the fact that the centrality of work is another way of declaring the centrality of man, and the pleasure of creating objects for other people with one’s own hands that reflect the beauty of this world”.
The pieces created during the course of the creative workshop are on display at the “Tra martello e incudine. Design e artigianato del ferro battuto” exhibition (Triennale di Milano, 29.11.2011-8.01.2012).
