GIANCARLO ILIPRANDI. SKETCH, THINK, DRAW.
BY PIETRO CORRAINI, MARIA CHIARA ZACCHI
FOR MOLESKINE
Giancarlo Iliprandi is one of the masters of Italian graphics and after the 2nd World War was considered one of the leading exponents of the Swiss School in Italy. Among other things his vast and varied work was twice awarded the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award (in 1979, for the “Modulo” fonts and instrumental graphics of the Fiat 131 Mirafiori and in 2004, for “l’Arca” for Arca Edizioni). In order to explain his work in a detailed and engaging way, the book brings together a diverse collection of media: travelogues, sketchpads and pages from notebooks. The result is a rich and varied offering that page after page explores Iliprandi’s creative process and shows the stages that exist between the first draft and the final definition of an idea.
