The Hapter TXTL001 glasses take their cue from an old pair of military glacier glasses, standard equipment in World War II, which were found in 2009 on a peak in the Dolomites. Slender and light, but full of sensory and emotional stimuli, they transmit all the "vibrations" of the original objet trouvé. From the technological point of view, the main element of innovation in the design is the patented production system, which is the result of extensive research and which condenses the entire cycle down into four phases (coupling of materials, cutting, folding and finishing treatments), compared with about 60 steps required to produce traditional glasses. The Hapter TXTL001 glasses are formed by two elements, functionally different but firmly fused into a single homogeneous body. The structure is derived from the industrial processing of a sheet of harmonic stainless steel: this is hypo-allergenic and possesses significant mechanical strength and flexibility, and is usually used in the manufacture of surgical instruments. On this strengthened and shaped metal endoskeleton, an outer skin of irregular pattern compact cotton fabric is superimposed using traditional methods. This fabric, produced by Lanificio F.lli Cerruti is aesthetically inspired by the fabrics of the military uniforms of the 1920s and 1940s.

This linear combination of processes, however, has required a long phase of research and development in new technologies and materials, even at nanotechnology level, with regard to the craftsmanship and properties of the materials used.
