Elica is the result of a formal conceptual simplification process that takes the creative process of the rotating door handle back to a slim metallic strip. The outcome is an essential yet ergonomic image which seems to spring naturally from the object’s primary requirements: at one end it is perfectly vertical, in order to merge with the spool; at the other it is perfectly horizontal, offering the maximum in simplicity of use. The rounded end of the lever softens the design and at the same time avoids any accidental catching thus increasing safety. With a wide flat handle and extended longitudinally – and therefore possessing an efficient lever effect –, Elica offers excellent handling capacity, even for people with physical handicaps or who have difficulty with movement. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t even have to be gripped to work and it makes it easy to open the door with other parts of the body – for example with the elbow or forearm –, making it particularly suitable for use in hospital, school, or welfare contexts, as well as public areas in general. The handle’s shape facilitates movement even for applications where the door is near to the angle between walls, or when installed vertically. Elica is made from AISI 316L stainless steel and is available in gloss or satin finish.
