Starting in 2008 the Province of Mantua public transport company (APAM Esercizio Spa) launched a program for redefining its corporate identity, communication strategies and services offered. Entrusted to the art direction department of the Intersezioni Integrated Design studio, the project was based on thorough research work in the field (user-centered research) for the acquisition of sensitive information on the part of the users and, in parallel, on the processing of a series of questionnaires and interviews in order to identify the internal corporate image as perceived by the workers. Developing the set of sensitive data that emerged through a series of initiatives for shared planning with the APAM Management and Department leaders (working groups, brainstorming, workshops), in 2012 Intersections created a series of roadmaps and guidelines. From these emerged the new APAM brand, the definition of corporate strategy on social networks and on a dedicated website, and an articulated operation of integrated communication, extended throughout the whole company, on vehicles and throughout the area. Among the project’s innovations were new liveries for the vehicles, new graphics and ticket issue systems, an integrated kit containing timetables and route maps, an infographic system and a new series of bus stop signposts.
